What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I have never formally tutored before. However, I always offer help to students when needed. I know that a lot of students feel helpless in their studies, myself included while I was in school.
However, watching students realise that they have the ability to not only understand concepts but also perform well in questions is definitely the most enjoyable aspect of tutoring.
Additionally, as I enjoy math and chemistry, I also enjoy speaking about the concepts and working with people to develop a better understanding of the content.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I am very capable in understanding the topics from a primary and high school curriculum. However, I do not believe that a tutors ability to personally answer questions is sufficient. In my opinion, tutoring is about reframing the content in a way that students can understand and become interested in. Unlike their daily classes that are delivered to a large group of kids, I would tailor the education and teaching to the individual student by assessing their skill level and also their level of interest.
My strength is my ability to tailor the lesson to the individual student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is give them self-confidence in their ability to study. When I was in high school, I lacked self confidence and it automatically hindered the degree of understanding that I developed for the subject. However, after a few tutoring sessions, my tutor empowered me. He gave me the confidence to tackle questions that I believed were "too difficult for me".
Additionally, teaching students how to tackle questions is very important as it can be difficult for them to interpret questions in a classroom environment.
