What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I really enjoy talking out why a kid doesn't like a particular subject. I believe that, if you adapt the coursework and homework to how somebody learns, particularly for visual and auditory learners.
Plus, tutoring feels super rewarding, especially if you like the kid you're tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
English. Everything to do with English. I have experience writing journal articles, academic essays, poetry, short stories, screenplays and novels.
In particular, creative writing can often be the shortfall of students studying English. Improving essay formatting, language conciseness and clarity, memorizing essays - although I advise against that - and rote learning quotes is very helpful, of course.
But without the basic structures and skills of creative writing, their overall mark will significantly suffer. As well as the grades side, good storytelling skills are always helpful.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor should, first and foremost, listen to how their student learns. In my experience, most kids who are struggling with homework, or paying attention in class, are still very capable of learning, and getting high marks, if you adapt the coursework for them.
Particularly with English - and Shakespeare is the worst offender - students can easily become overwhelmed by the volume of work they have to do, even more so if the text is old and difficult to read. By using worksheets, games, quote finders and other tools, allowing students to find their own enjoyment in English really works wonders
