What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The thing I enjoy the most about tutoring is the idea of having an influence on - and shaping - a young person's mind and way of thinking. This is the greatest satisfaction I can have in life.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am a natural tutor: teaching topics and conveying content feels very easy and natural to me. I have great presentation skills and I approach topics by gradually making more and more elaborate examples. I like to give my students detailed basic and background knowledge on each topic for them to be able to approach complex subjects with autonomy and, importantly, stimulating their curiosity. Stimulating a student's curiosity is key to successful teaching and I do it very well by introducing every new topic with real-life examples.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is being patient. Every student is unique and has his/her specific needs in terms of how to deliver a specific content. Patience is the most important thing that is needed, in my opinion, in order to clearly understand a particular student's needs and to craft a lecture that is successfully internalized and clearly understood by the student.

- Jaz still needs to work on his Talking Aloud and Backchecking. He also needs to improve his format skills as sometimes he tends to write down things too quickly and it may be difficult to understand. Sometimes he looks impatient to finish the exercise so I will keep working on this bit with him.

- Jaz improved his focus a lot. He managed to do all the exercises on rates and ratios easily once I explained the basic tricks - Further, he recognised that most of the mistakes he made at the test were careless mistakes. When he did the same exercises today, he double-checked and talked aloud and solved most of these exercises easily
- Jaz needs to further improve his focus. Today we did 1.5 hours and I think I found a good way to maintain his focus, which is doing 25 minutes focus - 5 minutes break - 25 minutes focus and so on. It looks like he appreciated this approach and I think this is going to really improve his focus

- Jaz is very smart and I realised he has a clear understanding of the concepts covered today - The student is very keen on maths and is a quick thinker - He managed to do the exercises very quickly and easily besides minor mistakes
- Jaz needs to improve his talking aloud and backchecking skills. 99% of the mistakes he makes are careless mistakes, which are totally avoidable. I started working on this with him. - The student needs to improve his focusing. He is a very smart guy and I noticed he doesn't find the exercises and topics he's currently covering stimulating enough - hence the dis-attention and the careless mistakes. I feel like I am finding the right working dynamic with him, and I am trying to engage him more by stimulating his lateral thinking skills. There can only be improvement from here on!
