What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love it when students get their "aha" moment and slowly gain confidence that they are more than capable of understanding what seemed so intimidating at first. I enjoy watching students grow in ability and confidence and the feeling that I was able to contribute positively to someone's life, if only in a small way is a great feeling.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have a very patient and understanding personality, even outside of tutoring, and I believe this makes students comfortable. I'm a final year mathematics undergraduate who used to be consistently top of the class in high school, but in university, I am simply an average student surrounded by brilliant people, many of whom are much smarter than me. Because of this, I understand what it is like to struggle with mathematics, and how as students, we can sometimes feel embarrassed to ask "stupid questions". I tutor with this in mind, and make clear that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Aside from the obvious answer of improving a students mathematical ability, I think the most important thing that a tutor can do is inspire a love for the subject and the confidence not to be intimidated when encountering a new, difficult problem for the first time.
