What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I really enjoy working with children. Knowing that I can help them through some of their toughest years of schooling makes me very happy. I am always up for the challenge of personalising my teaching style to each child so they get the most from their sessions. Seeing the student become more confident about their work and capabilities is really rewarding for me, and it leaves me smiling after the tutoring session. I also really enjoy teaching others as it makes me reflect on how I communicate concepts and ideas, which makes me a better communicator in life overall.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am a very patient person. If my student does not understand my explanation, I always try to explain the question in a different way. If the content is simply too hard for them to understand, I go back to the basics and slowly build upon it. I always aim to make a relaxed atmosphere because it is very important that my student is comfortable with me so they can ask for help whenever. I also cater my tutoring to the child/parent's needs. If their goal is to get A's, then I will push them a little harder and give them harder work. If they just want to know the basics, I keep a slower pace.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is creating a safe learning space where the student feels comfortable with asking any questions about their work. At university, I find that some tutors can be very harsh and cold which makes it difficult for me to ask questions out of fear of humiliation, so I make an effort to show my care, patience and openness to my students. I do this by always greeting with a smile, building rapport by talking about their days, shaping my teaching style to suit their goals, and congratulating them on their hard work.
