What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the feeling of creating a real, positive difference in a child's life. I feel highly rewarded when I know I am helping the younger generation reach their academic potential, which is the first step to driving forward humanity's future.
I am constantly developing skills that are invaluable in one's career, such as leadership, communication and organisational skills, when tutoring. I am a strong believer in constantly developing myself personally and professionally. I also enjoy hearing the younger generation's fresh perspectives on how to approach certain problems, which keeps me young at heart! :)
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Hi, my name is Saba and I'm a 2nd year Civil Engineering with Architecture student at UNSW! Achieving 98/100 in Mathematics Advanced and 46/50 for Mathematics Extension 1 in the HSC, I have very useful advice and study resources I can provide to your child to help them become the best version of themselves academically.
My biggest strength as a tutor is my ability to be patient and empathise with the student so that I can understand their academic needs and ultimately provide for them. Being the Events Co-Director for Enactus UNSW this year, I am responsible for managing Enactus's Events subcommittee team. This involves not only delegating tasks and explaining what each member needs to do clearly, but also helping them develop the personal skills they want to gain within this position.
To do this, I make sure that not only I clearly communicate with each individual on the team, but that I foster an environment where they can come to me with any difficulties they may have. We then work on their concerns together, which gives them the confidence to embrace mistakes, and which also empowers them to not be afraid of improving themselves. As an EzyMath tutor, I will definitely transfer these techniques and skills into my own teaching style, so that I can help my students realise their academic potential.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to not only help them understand content they are struggling with, but to inspire them to realise why attaining high results is important. Higher grades in itself is not an end, rather it is a means to being offered a degree or academic position which the student is passionate about, and in which they will utilise to transform the lives of others around them with. As a tutor, I will achieve by asking my student in the first lesson, "Why do you want to achieve high grades? What is your dream?" and remind them occasionally of their answer. The most important thing a tutor can do is not only be a teacher, but a mentor and friend to the student they are working with.
