What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing students being able to grow their critical thinking skills and essay writing. Most of the students I tutor start off with a fixed mindset about their English capabilities, but after working with them for a while, I can see their confidence grow and their grades slowly improve. I also enjoy building relationships with my students, and seeing their moods and outlooks on education improve.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am able to adapt the way I tutor according to the students needs - I have vast amounts of experience working with neurodiverse students, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc. As most tutors don't have this experience, I am able to provide higher quality services to these students. This allows them to get the extra assistance required so that they can succeed in school, as their different needs are usually ignored.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that a tutor shouldn't be perceived as a strictly authoritative figure - keeping the student engaged and building a strong relationship is a vital component in the effectiveness of the tutoring. Students - myself included - gain much more knowledge when lessons are more flexible. It usually takes me a few sessions to understand a student's learning styles, but individualising my sessions to suit a specific student's needs is the principle attribute in one-on-one tutoring - something that students miss out on in a standard classroom.
