What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy the journey undertaken with each student and the opportunity to develop and their knowledge and achieve their goals. Every student is at a different level and the process of understanding the type of support required is something I enjoy and would like to have the opportunity to do more of. In my work as a senior, I spend the bulk of my day providing support for the many issues and queries my team have regarding client accounts and business processes. I enjoy equipping my team with the tools to investigate and find the answers rather than feeding the information.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe my strengths as a tutor would be in patience, especially in explaining new concepts and ideas or providing feedback on progress. I understand that younger students do require extra patience as they may not have the motivation to study, so this is a necessary quality as a tutor.
Additionally, I do enjoy investing my time and efforts into people, especially where they have a desire to grow and develop. I believe this will allow me to develop mentor relationships with students as I am willing to follow up and and go beyond.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to ignite the passion for learning. This may be achieved by equipping the students with the foundations of mathematics, ensuring they have a strong understanding of the basics which will allow them to tackle harder questions and enjoy it. Additionally, building up confidence and providing praise in their progress so that they feel comfortable in asking questions and not worried about mistakes. Finally, teaching students how to see the big picture of how mathematical concepts matter in the 'real world' and can be applied in their lives.
