What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I really enjoy seeing students have those lightbulb moments when they understand something. Seeing them apply certain things I have taught them and seeing just how it helps them with their learning is great.
I really love the working one on one/small groups at my current workplace, building relationships with those children and having them engaged and noticing their evolvement from the start of tutoring to the end. Watching them progress and learn, all while having fun is the best part.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I think my strengths are building relationships with children and understanding/knowing their point of need in learning. Knowing the children really helps me understand specific ways I can engage them in learning and engage things they like to promote enthusiasm and excitement in what they learn.
Teaching relevantly and adapting to any changed that may arise - depending on how they learn is another strength hold. I definitely hold a greater strength and confidence in teaching literacy over mathematics. As my tutoring experience continues, I am developing more confidence in mathematics.
Most important things I can do for a student π
Developing a relationship with students. From experience, if there is no relationship with a student, the less likely they are going to want to learn and engage in my tutoring sessions. With this I took the time to have a one on one session with this particular child, asked questions about his family, his interests etc. From then on, has become more inclined to join and participate in his tutoring sessions. I also believe making sessions fun and engaging supports students learning in such different way of learning. As it is specific to a child's learning needs it's important to engage interest
