What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
The opinions students form about their work. I find most classrooms teach subjects in a very formulaic way, making it difficult for their students to understand the beauty and expression that can be found in any piece of writing; from novels to essays, from quadratic equations to imaginary numbers. I think it's very important for a student to have their own interests and views in what they're learning.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I am open-minded and cater to a wide range of teaching styles, as each individual never learns in the same way. I'm very patient and persistent, which allows for students to take their own time when learning but not become frustrated over a lack of understanding. I am able to bring light to different perspectives and can simplify certain areas of courses in order to push students to find their own thought process and opinions when it comes to assignments.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
Getting good grades is great, but the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to open their mind to new perspectives, and help lead students to a mind of their own. English is a beautiful subject, but it can often seem like certain people are just naturally gifted with understanding this course. I believe that those who are struggling in this subject simply haven't formed their own opinions over certain literary pieces and genres, and that's what I'm here to help with. This can strongly parallel with teaching maths, as it's very much a subject that someone can seemingly be just good at, when in actuality, different people just need it explained in different ways.
