What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Observing gradual improvement over time, and starting to recognise when students become motivated to seek these improvements and become more engaged with their work.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Academically, my strengths are essay-writing in English, History, and Politics subjects. My university average mark of 84.083 (First Class Honours) demonstrates this proficiency, and so helping students with their written communication is a natural area of strength for me.
Otherwise, I am a patient and considerate person who can work with people of different personalities, ages, and levels of skill. I believe that tutoring sessions should be something a student is motivated to attend, and that good tutors facilitate this.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The goal of tutoring, in some sense, should be to equip students with the skills to no longer need tutoring. I believe this is best achieved by allowing the student to choose study-related goals, and help them take achievable steps in order to get there. As their competence increases in proximity to the larger goal, so too does their confidence as each step is successfully achieved. This sense of upward momentum provides inherent motivation and a feeling that improvement is constantly within their grasp.
