What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
How rewarding it feels afterwards knowing your student is able to understand, apply and explain to others. I also love having a teacher-student bond. I used to love communicating with my teachers and itβs exciting how now I have a chance of being a teacher myself and reaching out to students.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I think I make people comfortable around me and Iβve noticed because of this people usually approach me to ask questions and clarification without hesitation.
I have many ways of explaining one concept because Iβm creative.
Iβm a person who is cautious of how a student learns (auditory, visual or hands on) and I usually pick up what type of learner they are based on what types of memory aids they remember with me, so I try to ensure I cater to their needs while explaining a concept.
I make good notes. My teacher in year 12 used my notes to tutor my friends on weekends.
Leadership
Most important things I can do for a student π
To tell the student that they can always reach out to them when they need help and to always be available for them to clarify any questions. And to make the student comfortable around them so that they are open around them and the tutoring experience becomes more useful that way to the student.

- after explaining the concept and showing some worked examples, Gabriella was able to do questions herself - she is good at factorising quadratics (can do it relatively fast) - felt confident after my explanation - made mistakes while trying to solve questions herself which I helped her with and I think this will stay in her mind
- needs to review previous weeks concepts and keep practising them (I asked her to recount what we learnt and she needed help to remember the concepts we discussed the previous week) - needs more practice on concepts taught today - try questions herself prior to session and come with questions she was unsure about on how to solve
