What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
For me, the feeling I get when my student understands a difficult concept or gets a grade back that they didn’t think they were capable of achieving is just amazing. I love being able to share and communicate my knowledge to others, and ensuring that my students can set themselves up for the best future possible.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My tutoring strength is definitely in the English and history fields. That’s where my passions are, which makes communication a whole lot easier. Teaching a student to proof their own assignments and helping them enhance their approach to essay writing and structure is something I’ve received remarkable feedback on. I’m also good at teaching a student how to interpret what a question is directly asking them to do.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think that if a tutor can initially convince their student why what they’re studying is important, then the relationship will be much more amicable. I also think it’s important that we make sure they’re really understanding key concepts, rather than making it seem like they do to avoid embarrassment around or working harder, I have seen many students in the former situation and it is heartbreaking. In my experience, making the student feel more confident in their knowledge of a topic results in them performing remarkably better under exam conditions.

I want to work more on being neat with her writing, and she still gets confused with her times tables.
She can count by 2s and 3s quite well, and is learning how to apply that to her times tables.

Her attention span was quite sporadic today, and it took a while to remember the basics such as 1 times tables as i had not seen her the week before and she stopped practicing. She is still very messy with her writing and gets caught up in trying to rush through the answers.
She has picked up counting by 3s really well and is starting to recognize trends ie. 10x3 is the same as 3x10.

She was very fidgety today and was struggling to focus, she needs to work on concentration techniques because that will allow us to make much faster progress! Again, her work gets very messy when she starts to feel bored or rushed, so we need to work on taking our time more and thinking through how a word sounds.

I'm really happy with her times tables, next week we might start with some more, and her spelling has improved so much! She's learning to take her time and sound out the word instead of just writing what she thinks she hears. I found that with her reading, she was more confident and competent when I had read first so she could follow and pick up the language being used.
She loses focus after short periods of time and her work becomes very messy. I think this makes her rush things like spelling and reading so I want to work on ways of staying focused for longer periods so that she can make the most of the sessions.
