What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy witnessing the journey of their development as students learn more about the topics learned. I love that I can help students by exploring their strengths and weaknesses in order to conjure the best explanation when they find themselves stuck. Not only does the student learn but as a tutor, I find that you learn more like how different children's' way of thinking are and adjusting your teaching style.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Patience, flexibility and creativity. I believe that in order to bring out the personal best in a student is to be constantly patient when they are trying to understand the content. Having the ability to be flexible is important as children have different ways of thinking, therefore you would need to adjust to their learning style. Lastly, creativity is key. Keeping your students captivated whilst learning is vital to tutoring as children tend to get bored quickly. This can discourage them from taking interest in a certain subject and ultimately disinterested to learn.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being able to give the best explanations suited to strengths and weaknesses of the student, bridging connections to subjects they are not confident in and being an excellent listener to the student. I believe the latter is part of a crucial foundation of successful tutoring as there can be many misconceptions and errors made, which can lead to confusion and ineffective learning. Active listening and going beyond topic-specific content can build the confidence in a student which I believe, is the basis of learning and teaching.
