Paris was very motivated to work through the material and engaged well with attempting every question. He is working to get ahead before school starts. Only needed a little encouragement to not be afraid of difficult-looking problems. Student talked through every step of each question. Guided questions were effective for his learning, rather than providing all the answers to him which he mentioned previous tutors have done. Got through most of the material and he is now more confident to complete this type of question on his own. Student is happy with my teaching style and seems excited to continue the tutoring.
Sometimes rushes ahead and misses some steps (e.g. negative signs), meaning he makes some errors. Needs to work on his mental math as he is not the sharpest in this area. Guesses rather than works out addition/times tables.
