What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I'm a strong believer in that we're always learning, even in the most unexpected situations. I understand that helping someone grow is a rewarding experience. This is a great fit for me, especially as a university student because it forces me to think through the basics of the subject matter, which in turn improves my skills/ knowledge in that subject.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Adaptable, Open, Energetic: Having lived on 3 continents through my childhood, I was always the "new kid". This developed many of my qualities that I consider to be strengths today. I've learned to be flexible and change according to the situation I'm in. I understand what it's like to be a student who may lack confidence, feel stressed, be overwhelmed or just not understand the material. It is important to listen, make note of the study strategies that work for the student and remain non-judgemental.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Personalising the learning: Every student is different and it is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Catering to the individual student's needs is so important as a tutor, especially as they are looking for help outside of class. I make efforts to understand the student's learning style and modify the experience/class accordingly. Being patient: Having a tutor who responds negatively can be so detrimental to a student's experience. It is important to appreciate the fact that each student may display different levels of aptitude for different subjects and take the time to reach them.
