What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy extending my knowledge on various topics to students that need clarification on such topics. I aspire to be a leader and an important aspect of being a leader is to be able to teach, and do so effectively by building a cooperative relationship with a student. Tutoring will help me build this respective skill by working alongside a student and solve problems together. The act of teaching also helps me revise the fundamental concepts of every subject that I tutor; it is basically like I'm studying for myself.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
According to my friends and colleagues in medical school, one of my best qualities is knowing how to establish a good rapport with people. I believe that the fundamental basis of tutoring is the relationship between teacher and student. Having good rapport with a student makes it much easier to communicate, share ideas, and understand their concerns especially with problems in learning/studying.
I'm also organised and well-prepared. Before tutoring a student, I will be up to date with what they're learning and review the topic beforehand to develop strategies on how to teach it.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
- Build a better study habit and work ethic
- Identify strengths and weaknesses, and improving on the weaknesses while maintaining the strengths
- Learn things in a new perspective (different from their teacher's). There are different ways of doing things.
- Clarify misunderstandings and confusions about difficult topics.
- Overall, these factors will build confidence in a student and inspire them to study and learn
