What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love the look on a student's face when they understand something and, over time, seeing their confidence and ability to solve problems independently grow. I've succeeded when I'm no longer needed.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am uniquely placed to tailor my explanations to an individual student's strengths and weaknesses. My deep conceptual understanding of the material and developmental psychology, combined with years of practical experience, enables me to flexibly develop an explanation and lesson plans.
With a PhD in Philosophy and a BSc in Psychology I know both how to think and how to teach. But this knowledge is not merely theoretical. I have over 5 years experience tutoring children and 15 years experience in tertiary education covering everything from logic and statistic to neurolaw and philosophy of science. I have experience tutoring children with specific learning disabilities and developmental disorders as well as gifted children. I have extensive experience teaching online having developed and delivered tertiary courses entirely remotely and having successfully tutored children, including those with learning disabilities, remotely. Most importantly I love playing with ideas and bring a sense of fun to lessons which is inevitably infectious.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor has the time to work one-on-one with a student to identify what they don't understand and more importantly why they don't understand. By uncovering the underlying gaps in their knowledge and their unique way of thinking they can bridge the gap between what they understand and what they need to know.
