I understand that no two students' needs are the same, regardless of if they are studying the same material. One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to identify and pursue the avenue of learning which works best for them. For example, whether the student learns best by visualising a problem, or through hands on experience. It is also important to make the material interesting for the student, present the material in a variety of ways and even relate it to the student's life. Keeping them motivated makes the process more rewarding for both participants. Finally, it is important to praise the student.
