What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Although I don't have much formal experience, I know I would particularly enjoy the personal relationships I'd make with my students - getting to know them as individuals and establish a friend-like basis with them (whilst still remaining professional of course). I would also love to be responsible for those 'aHA' moments, and ultimately help people realise that their goals in HSC, and subsequently in life, are far from unreachable.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My friends often came to me during Year 12 for help in explaining content, to which I would do so in a way which helped them specifically understand. I have a very friendly welcoming, and empathetic personality, all of which I believe when combined with patience, would assist me greatly in allowing students to feel comfortable when they make mistakes, and to provide a growth mindset looking ahead in their HSC year.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe it's important for tutors to ensure that their students see them as a not only in a 'teacher' role, but someone they could look to advice if they ever feel the need - like a role model, or a mentor. Tutors should help their students gain confidence in their ability to achieve their goals, and by establishing small, achievable milestones to get there, rather than building the HSC up to be this huge 'unbeatable beast' which it's often made out to be. The role of a tutor I believe is not just to consolidate knowledge in their students, but to help them grow as individuals over time.
