What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring plays an important role in adressing the difficulties that school can't and I especially appreciate the difference that an attentive and passionate tutor can make in raising a student's self-esteem and ability. Each person's difficulties can be unique and they may not find the right support at school or at home. That is where a tutor steps in to help them regain control of their studies. The two best things about tutoring is the moment a student overcomes their difficulties and begins to get serious about autonomous study, with the absolute best moment being the day results come out.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a passionate, enthusiastic and approachable person I feel that I can make maths interesting and that I will be of particular help to students who feel bored with maths or lost. In maths lessons, I used to help explain maths concepts to fellow students so I know that others find me clear and encouraging. I believe another strength of mine is that I recognize the importance of a consistent tutor. I would like to have a regular appointment up until the exam period to make sure a student has been putting in the work and feels ready.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The first thing a tutor can and should do for a student is to understand their difficulties and to set up a learning plan that is personalized and helpful. Lessons should give plenty of opportunities for students to test their knowledge as well as focusing on any grey areas by explaining any difficult concepts again. The second thing and perhaps most important thing that a good tutor can do is appeal to a student's desire to improve and help motivate them. A student's results (in VCE especially) will largely depend on their own autonomous work and practice, not on tutoring.
