Being able to relate to the students way of thinking and give them confidence. Recognising their strengths and weaknesses and working on both. I always give a student a positive approach to the way they tackle problems and respect their attempts even if along the wrong path. I try to get them to think in a problem solving way so they can justify why they take a particular approach. I have often had students who have a unique way of doing something which gets them to a solution which often I also learn from.
