What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Coming up to my end of school exams I participated in group tutor lessons to prepare for any question that may come up. I was inspired by the tutor, he had such energy with the class. When I began teaching, I knew that there was an importance in creating this environment. Making the subject personal to the students in front of you. With tutoring, you have a greater opportunity to create this. If itβs a misunderstanding that a student has picked up or a dilemma in finishing a question, this safe environment allows a student to express concern. Expanding explanations is a key to progression.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe that I have the background knowledge when it comes to each Maths topic. With my experience of teaching and tutoring, I have found different ways of explaining and approaching questions. When I have acknowledged what way the learner processes information, I tailor the session to them.
Most important things I can do for a student π
When beginning tutoring, I would ask the student where the area of concern lies. Time and time again I was told that it was down to confidence. My aim is for the student to be comfortable when approaching the subject/topic. A student should leave each sessions having learned at least one thing, or feeling more confident.
