What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

The satisfaction of a student realising their potential in a subject is really rewarding. Seeing my peers understand difficult and challenging concepts through my own explanation as opposed to a teachers really shows how important the learning environment and delivery of content is to supporting individuals and their education. From a young age it has always been clear that I have a deep love of learning and being able to share that with students is something I genuinely enjoy and can see myself doing as a career in the future.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

One of my greatest strengths would definitely be my EQ. Being able to understand the content matter isn't enough to help a student understand the content alone. Tutors need to be able to recognise the best way a student learns and empathise with their students while being able to communicate the content clearly. I am also very patient and persistent which is essential when working with students who find learning challenging. I believe my warm nature also allows students to feel comfortable and makes the tutoring experience positive and something they are more willing to persist with.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

Tutors need to be able help their students learn how to problem solve. Too often tutors prioritise getting the correct answer or achieving a high mark. Although that is one of the main reasons students have tutors, they need to support students so they can take on new questions rather than approach them with a memorised trick without understanding what the question is really asking. A tutor also needs to be able to recognise students weaknesses as well as a learning style that best suits the student so the student can gain the most they possibly can in a session.

Testimonials ๐Ÿ†

Sophie is so patient with my daughter and very encouraging when she "gets" it. My daughter tells me she is feeling much more confident with maths now and even in the classroom. Maths used to bring my daughter to tears, but now she feels she can understand more. Thank you, Sophie, you are fabulous.
