What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the experience of mentoring a person and motivating him/her to learn. I love the excitement students get when they finally understand a concept or a problem, and I find it very rewarding. This is also a major reason for me to start my Master of Teaching.
I also enjoy how I can encourage students to learn. Most of my students did not have a positive mindset towards the subjects they were struggling with (such as Maths) from the beginning. However, I feel that it is my responsibility and an essential part of my job to make the subject interesting and relevant to them.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My communication skills are among my key strengths in tutoring and teaching. Through experiences in tutoring and in my part-time Marketing employment in various companies, I have built excellent communications skills. This is utilised in tutoring as I am able to convey messages effectively to students in different learning levels, to simplify a complicated problem or concept to students, and to explain the solutions clearly.
Another strength of mine is being able to identify specific needs, strengths and weaknesses of students to deliver lessons accordingly.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Firstly, the most important thing a tutor can do is to help a student solve the problem at hand, for example, a Maths problem, homework or a new concept learned at school. I believe that building strong understanding of the content learned at school in a timely manner is crucial for the student' learning improvement.
Also it is important for a tutor to help students reach their learning potential by inspiring, encouraging them to learn and help them overcome their current struggles. I believe that all students are able to study Maths well with the right attitude and mentoring.
