What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy answering questions and clarifying concepts. As a past student, I know the difficulty of understanding concepts and having to find alternative avenues to better understand a concept. Hence, having someone to turn to and ask a question that could possibly be a simple explanation is something really important to me. As a tutor/mentor it was always good to see the students face light up when they could attempt the next question with minimal help which also made my day.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As a tutor/mentor, my strengths are always making sure the concept at hand is understood. I often ask questions like "Did that make sense?" or asking the student to relay what I just told them in order to ensure that the student understands the concept and isn't left confused. Sometimes in order to clarify what concepts they may or may not know, I start at the basics. I did it as part of my mentoring program to ensure that if the basics were strong, it was easier to build up from there rather than diving into the deep end.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

As a tutor, I think it's important to be there for them. Learning loads of new concepts almost every second day can be overwhelming and with that, all students have their strengths and weaknesses. Thus as a tutor it would be a good measure to know their strengths and weaknesses and work with them through their weaknesses and add them to the list of their strengths. I also strongly believe that as a tutor, it would be beneficial to teach them in ways that they learn the best. For instance, if a student is a visual learner, the concepts could be broken down into a series of drawings.
