Reflecting on the comments I have received while tutoring, my personal strength lay in explaining content in a simple 'easy to understand' manner. If a student is not able to understand the teacher’s explanation or my initial explanation, I am able to explain a content area in a number of alternative ways. After working through a number of examples, I like to get the student to solve a problem without assistance. This demonstrates they have fully understood the content and my explanations.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing that a tutor can provide for a student is support and motivation. When a student is struggling, they have low self-efficacy and motivation to engage with the subject. What is important is to use this knowledge to provide tutoring in a way that is relaxed and engaging.
