What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
One of the most enjoyable moments of tutoring is to observe students learn and develop and ultimately become successful in what they do, partly due to the role that we have played. It brings happiness and joy when you see the lightbulb turn on in their mind, the cogwheels start to turn and they become more confident in themselves with mathematics. On the other hand, tutoring also allows me to continue improving and refining my communication, teaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills so that I have a better understanding with how to interact with kids of all ages.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a medical student and mentor, one of my strengths include communication. I can adapt my language to different age groups to ensure that they understand what is being taught. This will also help build rapport and create a motivating and encouraging environment for them to learn. Another strength is my understanding of mathematics and their concepts. This involves simplifying concepts so that students are able to understand what they are learning and how to apply them to new situations. I am also a patient and committed person and will do whatever it takes to help my students succeed.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
An important aspect is to guide students through the content. This involves forming a strong foundation of what is being taught through understanding theory rather than pure memorisation. It is about teaching them to troubleshoot their answers when it is incorrect by identifying mistakes, challenging their thoughts and realising how to avoid these errors next time. It is also about facilitating rather than just providing an answer because the process is as important as the end result. This is in conjunction with helping them realise that mathematics is not as daunting as they once thought.
