What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

A tutor's job is to bridge the gap between material learned and material understood. I take great pride in being a part of the formative years of students, just as my mentors did for me. Tutoring gives the student to consolidate knowledge and "connect the dots", but doing it well gives the tutor the ability to master and articulate complex ideas to someone that doesn't quite understand them, therefore teaching patience and compassion.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I always found that sitting at a board and teasing apart a problem, with another student is by far one of the most rewarding experiences, they get to see someone who has been in the same place not too long ago. I tend to use mind maps and diagrams, so that the jumbled mathematical picture that the student has in mind can be cleared up, something that is vastly under appreciated in mathematics. I cater to various different types of students, some might find proofs tedious, while others might find algebra cumbersome and I take this into consideration and tailor my approach respectively.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I take offence that students aren't given an insight into the immense art and beauty that goes behind mathematics. I take priority in showing students the history behind the math they study. I always put emphasis on proofs, a failure to do so usually means a bad start to university. At the end of each tutorial, it is imperative that the tutor allows the student to see the bigger picture, as a result I give my student resources where they can explore the tools learnt that day to see the maths in play.
