What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
For me, the best part about tutoring, and education in general, is the sense of achievement which follows the fruitful completion of a lesson, for teacher and student alike. Students feel empowered by the newly acquired knowledge, while teachers feel content and proud, knowing that they had a key role to play in the knowledge acquisition process.
Having experienced both sides of the spectrum, I feel what I most enjoy about tutoring, is the genuine sense of satisfaction which stems from the realisation of my contribution to the empowerment and education of an individual.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my biggest strength as a tutor would be my ability to break down complex concepts in to simpler, more understandable components, and communicating, not just the theory or the concept to the student, but also the context in which the theory exists, in order to give them a broader understanding of the subject, and the ability to further utilise and analyse the theories and concepts.
Additionally, I feel that the personal connect I have with my students also serves to enhance the learning process, as it helps students enjoy learning, and become more invested in the content.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I feel the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make a student genuinely interested and curious about the subject area.
This usually happens when the tutor displays genuine care for both the subject and the student, and the student also views the class as an enjoyable and beneficial learning experience, rather than just a routine, mundane exercise which is imposed on them.
Students who do develop a genuine curiousity and interest go on to further investigate and analyse their subject area, and more often than not achieve great success in their field.
