She has her final exam next week so we went over the topics that she felt she wasn’t great with through out the year so we could focus on those in our sessions. Focusing on Trig calculations today. We went over how to apply the correct formulas to the various diagrams and made sure she had notes she could reference when working on questions. She is remembering to show her working out as she goes which is great as it allows me to see what she is doing and then correct if needed. Also leaving some questions for her to start working on so that we can see what else we may need to revise

Mostly unsure how to start the questions with the given information so we went over how to identify which of the rules she needs to use for them. Sometimes she would rearrange the trig ratios and formulas slightly wrong but once we had gone over it together she was able to start practicing these questions while checking with me that she was doing the correct things. The more questions she worked on the more she was able to understand.

She had worked through some questions between sessions which is great as it allows us to focus on the ones she was unsure of. We continued working through some exam style trig questions to see how she went with them after we had revised them. She mostly wanted to confirm with me that she was doing the correct things and following the correct steps as she worked through the questions. She is showing the steps she needs to for each question.

Bearings were a little bit confusing for her to work on so we went over what these are and how to calculate them for various scenarios. Also went over how to draw the diagrams using the given bearings as she wasn’t confident with this either. Once we had gone over it she was able to start working through these while confirming with me that she had done the correct things.

In her school exam she mostly ran out of time when doing the questions, but she had been unwell in the lead up to this assessment so wasn’t able to prepare as much as she would have been if she was well, so its still a good result. We will work on some time management strategies to help her in the WACE exam coming up. We worked through some non calculator practice questions to see what we would need to spend extra time revising.

Mostly struggling with the description questions and what she needed to be including in her answers for these. We went over the various points she needs to include in these so that she can keep revising these. Networks and sequences needed some more revision on how to work through these in the non calc sections. We made sure that she had examples for all of these so that she could use them in her revision.

She has been working through some of the past papers she has between sessions which is great as it allows us to focus on the questions she wasn’t sure on and allows me to see what she had done on the questions she had gotten wrong and I can then better help her fix these. So far she has a good overall understanding of most of the basics of the topics that are going to be in her exam.

From the revision she had done she was struggling with the sequences and finance questions so we went over these together to help her better understand how to work through these and can add them to her notes for the assessment. Once we had gone over them together she was able to start working through them while confirming with me that she was doing these correctly.
