What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Helping people to understand is what I enjoy most about tutoring. I like sharing my knowledge and it is rewarding to witness students making progress in their studies. I once tutored English to a timid middleschooler and I was proud to watch her confidence grow over the time as she got more comfortable with the language. Also, it is a great way to reinforce my understanding of the subject because it allows me to do more research and express it in my way. All make tutoring a fulfilling experience to me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I would say I am a patient tutor who always seeks different methods or ways to make knowledge more comprehensible. I am also willing to offer extra help outside of the tutoring hours. One of my former students said that I had a good command of English and was able to explain things very clearly. Most of them also commented on feeling comfortable during our sessions. I try to create the most comfortable study environment where students are not intimidated and afraid to raise their voice.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I reckon a tutor should actively listen to students. Understanding their struggles and learnings styles are keys to effective guidance. The latter is of extreme importance as everyone learns differently. I once had a student who struggled with why he wanted to learn English, be it professional or just casual language. We worked out together and in the end, it really helped make the learning more enjoyable. Sympathy and a non-judgemental attitude are needed as well since students may be under pressure of not being competent enough. A tutor should be respectful and patient.
