I feel one of my strengths as a tutor is breaking down concepts to their fundamental level. What are the steps required to solve the question? What concepts are needed to solve the question? Another is communication. You need to clearly explain in a way your student can understand. Another is patience. Something that may seem extremely simple to me might make zero sense to my student.
