What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I really enjoy seeing students achieve their goals and succeed in their studies. Seeing them grow in their skills and capabilities is highly rewarding.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I genuinely enjoy the subjects that I tutor (Maths and English were my favourite subjects in school!) and I hope to foster that love of learning in my students as well. I'm also patient, friendly, and understanding.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
A tutor should firstly be encouraging; to be more confident in their studies, for them to work hard and try their best, and to inspire a love of learning. Secondly, it is imperative to be understanding. Every student is unique, with varying goals, learning styles, and abilities, so learning should be tailored to each individual to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Ella was much more willing to share ideas compared to with the last assignment we worked on. She especially did well in sharing her opinions on the film and how the message of the film gave her insight into the film's themes
Ella's writing frequently features missing punctuation and a lack of capitals for names. She would benefit from proofreading over her work after she's finished. Ella also did not bring home the assessment sheet from class- neither of us were sure of what the teacher was looking for so I told Ella to ask in class. Something else I have noticed over the past several weeks is that Ella always has her iPad on hand during our sessions. While I understand sometimes it is necessary for schoolwork, it ends up being a bit distracting most of the time and really shouldn't be in the room if not necessary.

Nothing to improve on this week- however if in future Reuben would like to work on English during our sessions, it would be helpful to know what text is being studied beforehand

Finding area of squares, rectangles, triangles, trapeziums, circles, kites, and other common shapes, finding perimeter of common shapes and composite shapes. Ella also remembered a significant amount from several weeks ago on Linear relations, including finding gradient from both a line and using a formula
Multi-step problems. For instance, Ella has no issue using formulas to find the areas of squares, rectangles, triangles, and the like, but will pause when given a composite shape comprised of several shapes she knows. Ella also relies heavily on using the formula without always knowing why it works. ie. A prism is always the surface area of an end face x the length, regardless of the end face shape. When given a problem with a trapezium prism, Ella needed help despite having both a trapezium area formula and several prism formulas.
