What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I really enjoy seeing that moment when it clicks for a student, and generally just seeing them be happy about themselves when their studies improve and they get more confident. It's satisfying for both parties when a student successfully understand something new and challenging - they've finally cleared that big hurdle on their path of learning! Beyond a money point of view, I find it super rewarding to keep igniting those spark moments for a student, especially because it's a great chance to keep developing my communication skills. It's a win win for both me and the student.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor lies within my willingness to spend as much time as necessary (usually at least the same amount of time as a lesson) to ensure that I can communicate tricky concepts effectively and concisely to a student. I'm patient and friendly, and will always keep trying to explain something from different angles until the student reaches that eureka moment. I try to teach HOW to learn, rather than straight memorization, as this supports independence which is best. I also have tons of high quality resources gathered independently that I can use as both lesson and homework material.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being a friendly face and creating a learning environment where the student is relaxed/comfortable is of utmost importance. School is already too demanding and time consuming, so the least I can do is not add to the student's stress - people learn better when they're happy, so being mindful of this is better than stressfully cramming everything in at once. Also, being constantly available for help via text or phone call is a big deal too. You never know when it's a last minute question before a test, and being able to provide a solution at such a crucial moment can make such a big difference.
