What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I think the satisfaction you get after helping someone genuinely learn something that they've struggled with is unbeatable. I also love the learning aspect. As a student in STEM, getting to learn fundamental concepts at a low level and building on the low level knowledge at university is something that I find amazing.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths are that I am patient and I can deal with different types of students. I have taught classes of 15 students and I have been tutoring as a Science Mentor for a program called In2Science that provides high quality education to schools in rural Victoria. So, I am genuinely excited about STEM education and I really want to grow as an academic. This drive is something that I believe is important for any tutor.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think teaching students how to be independent is something tutors must do. Prioritizing things like active learning wherein students get to question things themselves, rather than being spoon-fed answers is important. Making them learn that they can find the answers themselves if they put in the effort is important. And obviously creating all the interest in the subejct that allows them to be independent, self-motivated learners is highly important. Making them birds that can spread their wings on their own and achieve great things for themselves, is the most important thing you can do.
