What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The "aha!" moment and encouraging critical and complex thinking in maths, physics, and engineering. There's no greater feeling than seeing that metaphorical lightbulb shine as bright as the sun when the student and I have worked through a difficult concept for an extended period of time. On top of this, I believe the objective of math related courses lie in fostering a strong foundation of critical thinking. While students may never need to differentiate a polynomial or find the locus of points again, it's important that they tried, did, and showed that they're capable.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Showing, not telling; I never tell a student how to do a question/what the concept is. I show them they can do it on their own, or build on their prior knowledge, then guide them to figuring it out, then show them how they can do similar questions by themselves.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Let them vent! A tutor shouldn't just teach the student, they should also listen. Having a young, relatable, smart person in your life to discuss your problems with is invaluable to the younger generation. On top of this, tutors should provide advice on any aspect of a student's life, more than just the subject(s) they're receiving tutoring for. Build a strong relationship and rapport with the student and the parent; We're a team, the student, the parents, and I, with a primary objective of raising and directing the student's academic life towards the student's preference.
