What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Watching the people you are tutoring grow in their knowledge and confidence is something that I find incredibly rewarding. I love working with people and love getting to know them as individuals and what motivates them as a person. There’s nothing better than seeing someone get something that they have been struggling to understand.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
For me, being a good tutor is being able to remember when you did not know anything about a topic and think how would I describe/explain this to someone for whom this is brand new. I believe I am good at breaking down and simplifying difficult concepts in a way that is interesting and easier to understand. I take the time to get to know the person I am teaching and by doing this, it enables me to tailor my style to them. I also constantly seek feedback on how they’re finding it and therefore amend and adapt my style based on what they’re enjoying or not enjoying so much.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think understanding and getting them as a person and individual is the most important thing. Everyone is so different and using the same approach would never work. Being a good listener and observer allows you to identify when they might be struggling, not only with the content of the lesson but maybe if they’ve had a bad day. This then helps you adapt the lesson and also show them that you are there to help them and get the most out of the lesson for them.
