Student has taken suggestions on improving notes on board, she has examples next to them now. Student regularly seeks help from teacher and other peers! Retained Index Law and multiplying/dividing positive and negative numbers. Needed a very quick brush-up on the number line (adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers). Went over surds, adding and subtracting and simplifying and made her do examples to hopefully retain the info.
Gaps covered in previous sessions have not been retained, have advised student to try a question she's not familiar with daily. Tutor needs to find a way to explain algebra in worded problems, perhaps with a generalised step-by-step guide.

Tutor's warm-up quiz went well with some gaps due to retention. Covered lots of topics during the session and ensured understanding by regularly checking with student if the explanation made sense. Felicia's confidence with surds has increased, she did lots of simplifying questions and addition, subtraction and multiplication of them. She is a consistently hard-working student and I commend her for it! Having 4 math lessons a week plus keeping up with her flipped-learning lessons is difficult. She is regularly up to date with her daily school homework and it is completed to a high standard.
Tutor's future focus should be things that Felicia can do outside of the sessions that will help with her retention leading up to her exam. Tutor has advised and made suggestions on what Felicia can do in preparation for that before expanding on it in the following session next week. Felicia takes notes down well but doesn't do it effectively, as her notes are detailed however she doesn't understand clearly what it means. Have advised to put little examples or key words next to the explanation in order to make Felicia's revision a little bit easier. Tutor will bring an example of effective note taking + book work and other resources to the next session.

Warm-up done by Felicia shows that she retained some of the concepts we talked about in the first session we did (concept of factors), as well as understand the basics of what she'd learn in class that day (scientific notation). Her book work is good and she is motivated to ask her teacher for help as well as meet the tight deadlines set by them. I can tell that she is super motivated to be successful in this subject.
We need to improve her retention. Last week simplifying algebraic expressions was gone through and she forgot how to do them. Felicia needs to do more exercises and I need to provide resources on study habits so she retains the concepts (in the lesson, tried to do this with the weekly warm-up quizzes). I need to be better prepared in terms of explaining concepts like scientific notation to her as I did not explain it properly. Concepts of highest common factor is still not super clear to her, however this isn't a concern because in school the topic has not been gone through but I thought it'd be valuable to teach as it makes simplifying algebraic expressions (and what they would be going through later, factorising) easier.
