What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

As cliche as it may sound, the thing I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing the smile on kids face after they did well. This is not just for good marks, but also when they are proud of finishing a worksheet, for instance. So many of these kids don't believe in their full potential, and the moment they start to believe that is so rewarding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe that my strengths as a tutor are in my academic determination and my ability to connect with the students. I am a STEM major at University with an Honors Degree in French minor, and have taken many Advanced Placement classes in high school. I am extremely familiar with sciences, long papers, and a really heavy workload. Another strength is that, contrary to how some adults treat learning children, they don't want to be babied, even when they are young. They want to be understood. It's important to build a connection based on both professional respect and friendship.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Inspirational is the most important thing a tutor can be for a student. You want to validate their reasons for needing tutoring. De-stigmatize the stereotypes that tutoring is for kids who will never catch up. That simply isn't true. Whatever their reasons for needing tutoring, they should never feel inferior. A good tutor should help builds kids up in the classroom and in their own self-esteem. It's perfectly okay to be direct with the student about how they're performing, but pessimism won't work. Inspiring students while giving feedback (even if it is not a fast improvement) is essential.
