What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
There are so many things I enjoy about tutoring. If I had to pick one, I would say that it's being able to crystallise the beauty, depth and scope of the natural world. When I don't understand something, and it feels all fuzzy in my head, then that thing finally comes into focus, I feel so empowered and happy. To know that I'm giving that feeling to someone else, to know that I am able to clarify to someone their place in our universe by understanding our fundamental laws tham much better, that's a beautiful thing in my opinion.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think I'm entertaining, and able to put things in a familiar language, and in terms that other people find interesting. I like to learn about people and am naturally curious about who it is that I'm tutoring: what they're like, why they're that way, the things they like to do for fun. As we all know, analogies and metaphors go a long way when making scary unfamiliar concepts seem more friendly and recognisable. I don't like to take myself too seriously, and in that way the student can feel more comfortable with me, and ask me any question they need to ask to strengthen their understanding.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Confidence is a big one. Empowering the student to clear up all the unknowns, have a deep understanding of the subject they're tackling, and feel confident that they can score as highly as possible in the exam, and make their family proud. I think knowing that they're not alone in their studies is also a big thing. It can be quite isolating when you're studying challenging topics and if you're stuck or overwhelmed, it could be difficult to find help and support in that. By having a tutor to coach you through those speed humps, you wouldn't feel so alone.
