About Joshua
Hello!
Hey! My name is Joshua Su and I am currently working as a Data Scientist at a tech firm. At the University of Melbourne, I studied a Bachelor of Science majoring in Data Science; This course involved a lot of mathematics which is why I have decided to tutor in this field.
When I was a student, learning was not the easiest for me and I struggled with concepts before so I can understand why you might be struggling as well.
I look forward to the opportunity to help you with your studies and to improve your learning :)

Jacob should continue to hone his skills in manipulating equations to better serve his needs in the question and I can see him achieving this with more practice.

Luke was very attentive and open to learning the theory and concepts. In particular, he already writes his values in math in individual brackets which is highly important for clarity. Additionally, Luke was also able to "talk" to himself through the problem which is a great sign.
Perhaps due to the introduction of a new tutor and revisiting an old concept, Luke was a bit unfamiliar and unsure of his application of the theory. With ample practice, he will gain more confidence and knowledge.

Jacob grasped the concepts very well and has started to write out his workings in detail which is what I've been advising to minimise as much careless mistakes as possible. Additionally, he has taken a proactive approach in writing down formulas that are important to the topic and applies them effectively in problems.
Jacob sometimes decides to skip over some workings and does it in his head instead which he is more than capable of doing. However, the time it takes for him to mentally think of the next step can be reduced if he lays out his workings clearly and in detail.

Jacob was able to quickly connect the similarities between Linear, Quadratic, and Hyperbolic functions. Through the session and when he was doing the example questions, it was evident that he is getting a good hang of the material.
Once again, Jacob still rushes through his work sometimes as I can see he knows the right answer but doesn't write out the full workings which leads to silly mistakes. I have prompted and reminded him of this during the lesson
