What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I think my experience as a tutor, and especially what I got out of it, is unique as I was a volunteer tutor for under privileged students in Sydney. I was afforded the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the student's life and provide them with the confidence and knowledge to feel more included within their schooling. Beyond the deeply rewarding feeling this gave me, the actual act of tutoring is something I love. I find the act of synthesising information and relaying it in different modalities to suit the academic capacity of the student in front of me deeply stimulating.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I would say my communication skills are a strong point. I am comfortable adjusting my teaching style to suit different audiences and academic levels. I also believe my unique educational journey has afforded me the opportunity to be well versed in a wide array of different subjects, from English to Maths and more recently, Science - I would feel competent in my ability to tutor these areas, and also in my own ability to self-educate if there were sub-topic areas I felt deficient in.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the first step in the journey between student and tutor is to build rapport. If the student does not feel comfortable in the space and time allocated, the learning achieved will be sub-optimal. Secondly, I believe patience is critical for tutors - I have seen firsthand the frustration that students can have independently to potential challenges they have with their learning. It is the tutor's job there to be patient and manage expectations of the student so they know they have the space to make mistakes and learn at their own pace.
