What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The sense of accomplishment. Being able to guide someone to the understanding of a difficult concept in maths or physics brings me great satisfaction as it provides a reassurance of my own understanding of the concept, on top of being beneficial to the student's own learning. When you tutor someone, they become an extension of your teachings, their success - is your success too.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My biggest strength is the fact that I am a student myself. I understand what students really need (even if they themselves fail to recognise it). Throughout middle school, I struggled with certain subjects, and through the contributions of an amazing tutor, I was able to lift my grades to an exceptional standards. Of course the exact techniques that helped me does not apply for every student, but I have the sense to recognise what a student particular needs and is struggling with. I do not rush to judgement with a struggling student, rather try to strategize lessons that suit them best.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing the tutor can do is create a safe trustworthy environment. The student should feel that the tutoring lessons are a session where they are allowed to make mistakes, as mistakes are crucial in the process of learning. The tutor should make is to make the lessons actually interactive and reasonably challenging for the student. A bad tutor would straight up provide answers to questions, a good tutor would go about giving hints, get the student to do the thinking and arrive at the solution themselves, this critical thinking is a must have for further studies and work.
