What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
It is such a satisfying or rewarding feeling when you see that a person has that 'click' in their understanding of a topic due to your help as a tutor. In school when I would help my peers with their homework, I felt proud that I was able to help someone better their knowledge in that particular course and thus perform better in exams. Additionally, tutoring enables me to enhance my understanding of the content by conveying the information in an easy-to-understand format.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My strengths as a tutor fall under three key qualities/behaviours: patience, always referring to the "bigger picture", and providing feedback in a constructive manner. Patience is required to prosper in any field no matter the challenges encountered. To have a clear and focussed mind requires patience. My idea behind always referring to the 'bigger picture' implies that rather than delving straight into the specifics of a topic, it's always best to understand its holistic purpose. This is the best way to grasp an understanding of what you are learning.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The purpose of a tutor is to enhance a student's understanding of the content through constructive feedback of the student's quality of work. Hence the most important things a tutor can do to accomplish this role are:
* explaining concepts at a steady pace
* willingness to provide encouraging feedback for every step of the way
* set goals for the student to accomplish to assess for improvement in academic performance (e.g. revise on past lesson's questions or set homework questions)
