What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The best feelings is that 'aha' moment - the moment of realization. It represents so much more than understanding: it's the weight of confusion off your shoulders; it's the awareness of a new tool you have unlocked; it's the newfound pride in your abilities. Being good at Math can only take me so far but where the skill can really be taken advantage of is in the teaching of others. The satisfaction of my own 'aha' moments is pleasurable yet is insignificant compared to the gratifying feeling of guiding someone else to their own 'aha' moment and is something everyone deserves to experience.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have always had a knack for recognizing the different approaches to the same problem. I feel like this skill is not only inherently useful but is important when considering where someone is struggling. I can always put my self in someone else's Mathematical shoes to understand what they are trying to do. This ability, combined with my own comprehension of Mathematics as well as my ability to express these ideas to others, is the key to successfully conveying ideas.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them to understand concepts instead of giving them formulae to memorize or solutions to copy. By helping a student realize their own potential to solve problems by honing their strengths and finding methods that work for them, it gives a student confidence in their ability. This self-confidence can produce an appreciation for the subject and increased interest or effort which creates a cycle of learning and improving.
