What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is getting to offer support to students and hopefully relieving some of the anxiety that many face alongside school and learning. Having struggled with this myself, I know that having a supportive teacher or tutor can make a world of a difference in our view of education, and may even allow us to find new passions in life. For example, I am studying physiology in university because an amazing teacher of mine supported me throughout my learning journey in high school. I would love to have a similar impact and allow students to enjoy learning.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe one of my main strengths as a tutor is my patience and kindness. I understand that education can be very difficult, and getting frustrated or upset is of benefit to no one. Instead, I encourage the student to learn at their own pace, ask as many questions as they may have, and guiding them through the content in a way that is manageable for them, so that they feel supported and come out of the tutoring session with a better understanding of the content, without dreading the tutoring session or adding more stress to their learning journey.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to them. Students who reach out for tutoring often do so because they need or want additional support, meaning it is essential to listen to what the student's goals are, what they may be struggling with, and how they feel they learn best. One of the benefits of tutoring is the opportunity to focus on the student as an individual and offer one-on-one support, something that is often not possible in big classrooms, allowing a tutor to provide the best possible support for the student based on their learning style and goals
