What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing the progress of students. Not just in their maths ability, but also their general confidence and the way they interact with me. It is very rewarding to see a person grow as you teach them. I have seen students come out of their shell, asking more questions and are not afraid to have a go at the answer, even if they're not 100% sure.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My style of teaching revolves around practising exam-style questions. I think this is the best way to learn as it gives students confidence that they can tackle the harder questions because they are already familiar with similar styles.
I'm also very patient and once I have developed a good relationship with a student, I can tell when they need help or whether I can let them do it on their own.
I also like to prepare extensively before a lesson, in order to maintain focus during.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Be adaptable to individual students and across each time you see them. People learn in different ways at different times. Sometimes students have had a bad day, so you may have to adapt the lesson to make sure they get as much out of it as possible.
Preparation is also very important. If you a stumbling around thinking of things to do next, students can lose focus and become distracted and vital lesson time will be lost.
