What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I most enjoy communicating with the students and thinking of different ways to approach problems so that they can make sense for different people. I find it very meaningful and rewarding helping other people to understand concepts. I love seeing people's confidence increase and improve. Usually their marks increase too, and I love seeing their own satisfaction at their hard work's results.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that my main two strengths are empathy and critical thinking.
My two younger sisters are both autistic, hence they communicate in ways different to their neurotypical peers. I have learned to empathise and view multiple viewpoints so as to communicate with not only my sisters but the world around me.
Critical thinking has always been a strength of mine, and I love to analyse the world around me. This has allowed me to solve problems both critically and empathetically, which I believe to be vital for a tutor.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give them confidence, not only in their knowledge and understanding of the subject but also in their ability to solve problems and learn new things. In year 12, I was experiencing difficulty with maths extension 2. After finding a tutor, I realised that my issue was not that I was not intelligent enough to understand the coursework, but rather that I was simply becoming overwhelmed. Going to tutoring massively helped to boost my confidence and I was able to approach questions positively and succeed in my coursework.
