What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students' confidence grow as they prove to themselves what they are capable of. I have always found tutoring to be highly rewarding for this reason. I also love meeting new people and I always take genuine interest in getting to know the new people that I meet. I love to share my passion for maths and sciences and it brings me joy to see students find new interests, particularly in these areas.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my main strength as a tutor would be my passion. I care about knowledge sharing and I have a particular interest in maths and science subjects. As a woman in STEM, I believe that representation matters. In university, I had 2 female professors over 5 years (60 modules). I believe that the more female role models we have, the more women will have the confidence to enter these technical/male-dominated fields. I am also patient and caring. It makes me happy to see other people succeed. I think these strengths are what make me a good tutor.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think that being patient and empathetic are two of the most important things a tutor can do for a student. Listening empathetically to a student can help a tutor to understand the way that the student thinks. In turn, the student feels understood and real improvements can be made. Patience is important for many reasons in tutoring. In my experience, most people can grasp most concepts. The only difference is the time it can take for different people to grasp them. If you truly care for a student and you can always find the patience to help them to understand a new or complex concept.
